MeysanElite-Maqbool Squash Team sweeps Turkish Junior Open

Monday 25th of August

The MeysanElite-Maqbool Squash team swept the Turkish Junior Open in a number of exciting matches in Istanbul on August 24. The team—being much smaller than competing teams with only six players from the UAE—secured four gold medal finishes, serving as a testament to the caliber of the players.

In Boys U11, Aley Fathi took the title despite a strong challenge from Mehmet Yaman Öter, an older Turkish opponent. In Boys U13, Amaar Adil gave a dazzling performance in his first ESF tournament, capturing 1st place in an exciting match against Russian player, Arsenii Alekseev. In Boys U15, Adiv Gole used his international experience in securing the gold after defeating Iranian national team player, Rayan Golabian. The highlight of the tournament, though, was Rohan Roy who, at only 16 years old and playing an age group up in the Boys U19 division, captured the gold after a thrilling match against Jordanian national team player, Mohamed Albataineh.

Naser El-Jeaan, at only 14 years old and playing an age group up in the Boys U17 division, captured an enviable 6th place finish among a pool of strong and much older players, and, in Boys U15, Zain Fathi, despite losing to the top-ranked Russian player, Nikita Smirnof, in the first round, managed to secure 17th place, winning every match without dropping a game.
